Gladstone Scarecrows
November sees the scarecrows back in Gladstone - this year's theme is 'Princes, Princesses and Politicians'. What better a reason do you need to visit the Gladstone Vineyard Wine Garden and Café for a family lunch before or after a drive by of the local scarecrows.

Saturday 8 November is Scarecrows Big Day Out with a range of activities in the area:

Scarecrow Scamper from 9am: Start your day off with a 5km/10km fun run or walk through the spectacular Gladstone area - dressed up as a scarecrow of course! Entry forms are available from

Scarecrow Fair from 9.30am to 2pm: At our famous scarecrow fair, you will find gorgeous local produce, entertainment, crafts, fair rides, even giant balls to roll around in and a range of delicious local foods! There will also be our Monster Midday Auction where you are sure to find a bargin. This traditional country fair is held at Gladsone School is great fun for the whole family!

Scarecrow Drive: Load up the car and head out along Gladstone's quiet country roads to spy fantastic Scarecrow installations on the roadside! Roads the Scarecrow Drive will feature this year include Gladstone Road, Longbush Road, Te Whiti Road and Admiral Road to the top of the hill. You can enjoy this drive right throughout the day using the map available in the Wairarapa News on 5th of November, or collect it from isites or Gladstone School.

Scarecrows on the Gobbler from 1pm-6pm: Our final event for the day is at the Gobbler, which is a stunning four whole golf course on Longbush Road (1686) that turns into a haven for Scarecrows and wanderers for the afternoon! The scarecrows at the Gobbler are made up of the scarecrows entries from schools, kindy, businesses, events as well as the 'off the scarecrow map' enteries from the Gladstone district. Gladstone Inn and Paulownia Wines will be there to keep you refreshed, and there will be lots of gorgeous local food avaliable. This year we are rapped to have Anna Mae and Jamie Morrison to keep you entertained while you sip on your wine and the kids explore the scarecrows! It's just a gold coin to enter!
